This month, WPLN chatted with Vanessa Simon, who founded Gotham Rising to encourage women to get involved in the political process in New York.
Vanessa says, "It is the women in my life who have helped me grow to where I am today, and the women who I have helped grow that continue to inspire me and motivate me to work even harder. Our communities and organizations are truly illuminated by the guidance and leadership of women."
... Politicians and reporters are highlighting that women aren't a monolith!
The Hill reexamines the "soccer mom" label, with Women & Politics Institute Executive Director Betsy Fischer Martinpointing out "things don’t fit quite as neatly in a box as they maybe did in the past."
In another piece, The Hill reported a "new generation of Black women is seeking to bring change and diversity to the GOP as the party looks to broaden its appeal with constituencies that have long shunned it."
And since we know you're busy, here are our top picks for other "must reads" this month!
For the woman who's struggling to juggle it all, Bloomberg reported economists have now determined the price tag of housework and caregiving:
"Nearly 80% of all of the unpaid work necessary to maintain a household and care for its family members is done by women. The cost of that comes to about $3.6 trillion a year. This is shocking, considering that women also make up half of the paid labor force."
For the woman who wants to Remember the Ladies, check out our monthly feature on key moments in women's representation and rights during the month of April in the past.
APRIL 25 | Our Pennsylvania training partner Level Up is hosting "Lead Like a Woman." Level Up is dedicated to the growth and empowerment of center-right female entrepreneurs, business and political leaders, and the next generation of women poised to ascend.
APRIL 25 | Google and Defending Digital Campaigns are hosting a Campaign Security Summit in Texas to discuss the current security threat landscape and the impact of advancements in AI.

Women’s Public Leadership Network (WPLN) is a non-profit organization organized under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Donations are tax-deductible to the full extent provided by law.
Women’s Public Leadership Network (WPLN) educates, organizes, and inspires women to run for elected office, obtain political appointments, and become more involved in the political process across the United States.
Women who believe in commonsense, pragmatic public policy solutions are often missing in political and policy dialogue. WPLN offers tools and opportunities designed to equip women with the knowledge and resources they need, including easily accessible online content and access to a community of like-minded people who want to support them as they step up, engage in the political process, and lead.
